Warehouse operative cover letter example

A strong warehouse operative cover letter shows reliability with shift work and accuracy with picking, packing or stock tasks, ideally backed by one example of meeting targets safely. Mentioning any licence, such as a forklift certificate, and your shift flexibility also helps.

Redbridge Distribution Centre

Dear Mrs Ahmed,

I am applying for the Warehouse Operative vacancy at Redbridge Distribution Centre advertised on your website. I currently pick and pack customer orders at a regional distribution centre, working to daily targets, and I also load and unload delivery vehicles safely, carry out regular stock checks, and use handheld scanners and pallet trucks as part of my daily routine.

During a particularly busy peak trading period, I kept my picking accuracy consistent while the site's order volume nearly doubled, and I flagged a stock discrepancy early enough for the supervisor to correct it before it affected dispatch. I follow manual handling and health and safety procedures closely and keep my work area organised.

Redbridge Distribution Centre has a good reputation locally for training and promoting from within, which is part of why I would like to join the team. I am keen to build a longer-term career in logistics, and the scale of this site would let me develop further within a supportive team. I am flexible with rotating shifts, including early mornings and weekends, and I hold a valid manual handling certificate.

I would welcome the opportunity to discuss how my experience could fit the role. Thank you for considering my application.

Yours sincerely,

Daniel Foster

Questions about warehouse operative cover letters

Do I need a forklift licence to write a strong warehouse cover letter?

No, many warehouse roles do not require one; mention it only if you hold it, and otherwise focus on accuracy, reliability and shift flexibility.

Should I mention physical fitness in a warehouse cover letter?

A brief mention that you are comfortable with manual handling and an active role is enough; there is no need to make specific fitness claims.

How do I show reliability in a cover letter without repeating my CV?

Use one short example, such as consistent attendance or covering an extra shift during a busy period, rather than a general statement.
