Shop supervisor cover letter example
A strong shop supervisor cover letter shows that you already act like a supervisor, with one example of solving a problem on shift or training a colleague. It should mention keyholder duties and cashing up, and say why you want to lead in that particular shop.

Linden Hardware
Dear Mrs Whitlock,
I would like to apply for the Shop Supervisor role at Linden Hardware. I am currently a senior sales assistant at a home and garden store, where I hold the keys and run the shop floor on the days the supervisor is off.
Running a shift is mostly about small decisions made early. When two colleagues were off sick on a Saturday last spring, I moved one person to the till, changed the break times and took the delivery myself, and we opened on time with no queue. Last year I also trained three new starters on the tills, refunds and our opening checklist, and two of them now open the shop on their own.
Linden Hardware interests me because customers come for advice as much as for products, and I enjoy learning a range well enough to explain it. I am comfortable opening, closing and cashing up as a keyholder, and I hold an Emergency First Aid at Work certificate. I can work weekends and some evenings.
I would welcome an interview to discuss the role. Thank you for your time.
Yours sincerely,
Tariq Mahmood
Tips for a shop supervisor cover letter
- Show that you can lead before you have the title, for example by covering a supervisor's day off or training a colleague
- Give one example of a problem you solved during a shift, such as a staffing gap or a difficult customer
- Mention keyholder duties, cashing up and opening or closing routines
- Say what kind of shop you want to lead and why, in a sentence
- Give your availability, since supervisors often cover early, late and weekend shifts
