Laundry assistant cover letter example

A strong laundry assistant cover letter shows steady, careful work with industrial machines and good hygiene habits, with one example of adapting when the team was short. It should also say that you are comfortable with physical work and early starts.

Crestwood Commercial Laundry

Dear Mrs Osborne,

I am writing to apply for the Laundry Assistant vacancy at Crestwood Commercial Laundry. For the last two years I have worked in a commercial laundry that serves hotels and care homes, sorting linen, running industrial washers and dryers, and finishing flatwork.

I work steadily and carefully. I sort linen by type and soiling, following infection control rules for soiled items, and I check finished pieces for stains before they are packed. I fold and count to the customer's order sheet so that deliveries leave correct. When our flatwork ironer operator was away for a week, I learned the machine and helped us keep to our delivery times.

I am used to working on my feet in a hot, busy environment, and I have a full attendance record on early shifts. I have manual handling and COSHH training and I keep my work area clean and clear. I can start at 6am and work any shift pattern you need.

Crestwood's work for local care homes is something I would be proud to be part of. I would be glad to discuss the role. Thank you for reading my application.

Yours sincerely,

Maureen Kelly

Questions about laundry assistant cover letters

Do I need laundry experience to apply?

Not always. Cleaning, catering or care work all show you can follow a routine and keep things hygienic, so say what you have done.

How long should the letter be?

Three or four short paragraphs on one page is enough. Supervisors usually read several applications at once.

Should I talk about the heat and the pace?

A short, honest line that you are used to a hot, busy working environment is enough, ideally with an example from a past job.
