HGV driver cover letter example
A strong HGV driver cover letter puts your licence category, Driver CPC and tachograph card up front, then gives one example of safe, sensible decision-making. It should say which routes and vehicles you have driven and whether you can work nights away, early starts and weekends.

Northern Pallet Haulage
Dear Hiring Manager,
I am writing to apply for the Category C+E Driver role at Northern Pallet Haulage, advertised on your website. I hold a full Category C+E licence, a valid Driver CPC and a digital tachograph card, and I have six years of experience on regional and national routes.
Safe driving and reliability are the core of the job, and I take both seriously. I complete a walkaround check before every trip, keep my tachograph records accurate and plan my breaks so that I stay within the drivers' hours rules. Last winter snow was forecast on my final leg. I rang the transport office, agreed to deliver in the morning and parked safely at a secure truck stop.
I am calm and polite with customers, and I get signed proof of delivery at every drop. I am happy to work nights away, early starts and weekends, and I have a clean driving record. Northern Pallet Haulage's modern fleet and regular routes appeal to me.
Thank you for considering my application. I can bring my licence, CPC and tachograph card to an interview, and I would welcome a short test drive if that would help.
Kind regards,
Alan Cresswell
