Sales assistant CV example

A strong sales assistant CV shows that you can talk to customers, find out what they need and help them buy with confidence. It should name the products or departments you know, any sales targets you worked towards, and how you kept the shop floor running between customers.

Questions about sales assistant CVs

What is the difference between a sales assistant CV and a retail assistant CV?

They overlap a lot. A sales assistant CV puts a little more weight on advising customers, product knowledge and targets, while a retail assistant CV often leans more on stock and shop-floor tasks.

Do I need a sales qualification?

No. Most shops hire on attitude and customer skills and train you on the products. If you have a Level 2 retail or customer service qualification, add it, but it is rarely required.

How can I show sales skills without sales experience?

Use examples where you helped someone choose or persuaded them to try something, such as recommending menu items in a café, raising money for a school or charity, or selling at a market stall.
