Tips for a mental health support worker CV
- Describe the setting clearly, such as inpatient, community, crisis or supported housing, and the client group
- List training such as de-escalation, safeguarding, mental health awareness and suicide prevention, and any accredited physical intervention training you have completed
- Use recovery-focused language: goals, choice and hope, not only risk and observations
- Mention your DBS check and the Care Certificate, and any Level 2 or Level 3 diploma in health and social care or mental health support
- If you have lived experience of mental ill health, you can mention it briefly if you feel comfortable, as long as the CV stays focused on the role
- Give an example of keeping boundaries and looking after yourself, such as using supervision and debriefs
