Questions about support worker CVs

Do I need qualifications to become a support worker?

Many employers take on people with no formal qualifications and train them. They often ask you to complete the Care Certificate and may support you towards a Level 2 or Level 3 diploma in health and social care.

What is the difference between a support worker and a care assistant?

Job titles overlap. Care assistants often work in care homes with a focus on personal care, while support workers often help people to live more independently at home or in supported housing.

Do I need a DBS check to apply?

Most employers arrange the check themselves as part of hiring, so you do not need one to apply. If you already have a recent one, mention it.
