Plasterer cover letter example

A strong plasterer cover letter shows that you prepare surfaces properly and leave a smooth, clean finish. It should name the work you do, such as skimming, rendering and drylining, plus your NVQ and CSCS card.

Marsh Lane Plastering

Dear Mrs Kerr,

I am writing to apply for the Plasterer role at Marsh Lane Plastering. I hold NVQ Level 2 and a CSCS card, and I have spent four years skimming walls and ceilings, rendering and drylining in homes and extensions.

Good plastering is about preparation as much as the final coat. I bead corners, tape and joint boards properly and check the surface before I start, so the skim comes out flat and needs little sanding. Last spring I skimmed six rooms in a refurbished terrace in a week, and the painter told us he had very little to do beforehand. I cover floors and windows and clear up at the end of every day, which matters to customers who are living in the house.

I have admired Marsh Lane's work on local renovations, and I would like to do more rendering and feature work with your team. I can work from platforms and scaffold towers, I have my own tools, and I have a full UK driving licence.

Thank you for considering my application. I would be glad to show photos of my work.

Yours sincerely,

Ibrahim Yusuf

Questions about plasterer cover letters

Should I mention how many rooms I can skim in a day?

Only if it is honest. Give a realistic example from a real job and pair it with something about the quality of the finish.

What if I mostly do repairs?

Say so, and give an example of a repair that blended in well. Repair work takes real skill and many firms need it.

Do I need to explain drylining?

No. Plasterers and employers know the term. Just say whether you do it and how often.
