Lifeguard cover letter example
A strong lifeguard cover letter names your current qualification, describes one real moment where you stayed alert and acted well, and says when you can work. Pools need people who are calm, reliable and happy to work early, late and at weekends.

Harbour Road Swimming Pool
Dear Mr Prasad,
I am writing to apply for the Pool Lifeguard vacancy at Harbour Road Swimming Pool. I hold a current RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification and first aid certificate, and I have spent two summers lifeguarding at a busy public pool.
I supervised the main pool and the learner pool during public swimming and school sessions, scanning the water all the time and swapping positions with colleagues to stay alert. One busy afternoon I noticed a young swimmer tiring in a crowded lane. I got to them quickly, helped them out, made sure they were well, and recorded it in the incident book.
I learned to swim at Harbour Road as a child, so I know how much the pool means to local families. I can work early mornings, evenings, weekends and school holidays, and I keep track of my requalification dates so my certificate never runs out. I am friendly but firm when I explain pool rules to swimmers, and I stay calm when the pool gets busy.
I would be glad to attend an interview or a poolside assessment. Thank you for considering my application.
Yours sincerely,
Jodie Hartley
