Bookkeeper cover letter example
A strong bookkeeper cover letter shows the range of books you keep and the deadlines you meet, such as VAT returns and payroll, with one example of sorting a problem before it mattered. It should also show you can explain numbers in plain English.

Greenacre Accountancy Practice
Dear Mr Sutherland,
I am writing to apply for the Bookkeeper position at Greenacre Accountancy Practice. For the last four years I have kept the books of around twenty-five small business clients at a local practice, working in Xero and QuickBooks from day-to-day entries through to year-end preparation. I am AAT Level 3 qualified.
I reconcile bank accounts, code transactions, file quarterly VAT returns using Making Tax Digital software, and run monthly payroll and pension submissions for several clients. When something in a client's records does not look right, I ask a clear question and sort it out before the return is due, rather than after.
Many of my clients are sole traders and small company owners who would rather not think about numbers. I explain things in plain English, keep reminders short and always say what I need and by when. The trial balances and schedules I pass to accountants are ready for them to use, which saves time at year end.
Greenacre's focus on small local businesses is the kind of work I enjoy most. I would be glad to discuss the role. Thank you for considering my application.
Yours sincerely,
Beverley Hutchinson
