Social media manager cover letter example

A strong social media manager cover letter shows the accounts you have run, one real result with a number and the way you report back. It should also show that you understand the brand's voice and that you reply to customers quickly and kindly.

Daybreak Coffee Co.

Dear Mr Ellison,

I am writing to apply for the Social Media Manager role at Daybreak Coffee Co. For three years I have run Instagram, Facebook and TikTok for a small chain of cafes, planning around 20 posts a month, shooting and editing short videos on my phone, and answering comments and messages.

Last year I changed our plan to show more of the people behind the counter and the making of each drink, instead of only photos of the menu. Over 12 months the cafe Instagram following grew from about 2,400 to about 4,000, and more customers mentioned the videos in store.

Each month I send the owner a short report on reach, saves and link clicks, written in plain words, so decisions about posts are based on what worked. I reply to customers within a day and pass complaints to the manager so they are fixed and not just answered.

I have followed Daybreak for some time and like your friendly tone and how much you show of your roasting. I would enjoy helping more people see it. I am happy to share examples and ideas. Thank you for considering my application.

Yours sincerely,

Tolu Bakare

Questions about social media manager cover letters

Should I mention follower numbers?

Yes, with growth over time, and add engagement such as comments or saves where you can. Only use numbers you can back up.

What if I have only run my own accounts?

You can still use them if the results are real. Explain what you posted and what happened, or use a club page or a friend's business.

Should I suggest ideas for their accounts?

One short, respectful idea shows you have looked at their page. Keep it brief and leave the detail for the interview.
